Welcome to the web-site of the "Unité de Recherche de Zoologie Forestière" - URZF

wordle

URZF, a unit of the ECODIV department (Ecology and biodiversity of forest, grassland and aquatic environments), is located in Orléans on the INRAE-Val de Loire center. It develops research on the mechanisms that govern the populations of forest insects expanding under the influence of human activities and environmental changes.

The objective of the research is to characterize, at genetic, physiological and behavioural levels, populations of forest insects that are invasive or expanding under the effect of climate change, To analyse the mechanisms governing the success of biological insect invasions, to measure ecological and economic risks and to derive management measures.

The research is divided into two strands: «Populations expanding under the effect of climate change» and «Biological invasions». They are based on a multidisciplinary approach involving researchers specialized in entomology, ecology, genetics, physiology and applied mathematics.
